Reduce the financial risk associated with severe weather events
An intelligent system, designed to inform building resilience improvement and asset protection.
The aim of the Building Resilience Australia is to support a sustainable built environment and provide an intelligent risk management solution for our clients and partners.
Climate change poses one of the most pervasive risks to our planet and our lifestyle, with more frequent heatwaves, heavy storms, wildfire and weather extremes, impacting our homes and workplaces.
Together with our partners we are working to make the world more resilient. In collaboration with James Cook University (JCU) Cyclone Testing station (CTS), Building Resilience Australia (BRA) provides professional services for building owners, insurers and managers, JCU CTS is a recognised, independent research and testing authority on the performance of buildings and infrastructure in response to disaster events and cyclones in Australia and the surrounding region.

Solutions
By actively working with insurers, property managers and owners we can identify practical ways to reduce costs associated with insurance premiums, property damage from severe weather events and overdue maintenance. This in turn can help to increase investor confidence.
The services offered identify the gaps using a resilience score. This leads to mitigation recommendations providing a cost benefit for the client, or informing strategy. BRA draws from the best science and engineering to tailor a package of services to address residential, commercial and corporate business requirements.
- Provide an overview of exposure to hazards and how business and property owners might reduce financial exposure and reduce vulnerability
- Validate building resilience improvement and maintenance plans to reduce impacts from weather events
- Support portfolio managers to prioritise detailed resilience assessments across locations. This insight can be sued to set strategy, plan resources and manage risks at a local or group level
- The JCU CTS resilience score is recognised by many insurers
What We Do
By utilising reliable benchmarking and taking a data-led approach we are able to gain risk insights. This means our recommended actions are specific to your needs. To assess the potential for loss and damage, exposures, controls, hazards and events are considered.
Offering a suite of solutions to identify, assess and quantify current and future building risks associated with the changing climate, such as severe weather events. Effective mitigation solutions are achieved by working collaboratively with clients to understand their challenges.
Partnering with the Cyclone Testing Station (CTS) at James Cook University, we are able to help business and property owners guard against the risk of changing climate, by providing a standardised resilience score recognised by industry, insurers, peak bodies, and government.
